Shepherd was put into an induced coma after having difficulty with breathing. The final cause of Shepherd’s death is suspected to have been due to heart failure, North Coast Courier reported.
His daughter, Lara Bellamy, said that because it was still an alleged murder, there was a process that needed to be followed.
No funeral arrangements have been made yet.
“The postmortem still needs to confirm the cause of death. Until then, we cannot make any arrangements,” she said.

The Umhlali detective handling the case, Constable Sidusiso Nkwayana, confirmed that the charges against the two men arrested for the crime would be changed to murder once the postmortem was complete.
“We need to know if the injuries was a direct cause of the death. We do not know if he died from heart or respiratory failure. The charges will change only when we receive results from the postmortem,” he said.
