Bloemfontein. - "It is unacceptable that Interpol took two weeks to finally give to the police's stock theft unit a permission for them to look beyond Lesotho's border for stolen cattle from South African white farmes."
Danie Joubert of the farm Dashoek in the district Clocolan says that it took two weeks for interpol to finally give permission via land line(telephone) to the police stock theft's unit in Ladybrand to look after his 20 stolen caws in Lesotho. This Interpol's laziness(rather a deliberate sabotage and you already know bu whom, how, and why), however, came with the cost to white farmer Danie Joubert of what is R250 000 in damages(we are talking about $17.000 USD) !!! His cattle will as a result of this sabotage probably never be found.
This is not the first such incident....black thiefs have stolen before....
Joubert and his neighbor Wessel Wessels of the farm Welgelegen, have on 19 and 20 June of this year lost 11 cattles....
After they followed the tracks, it led them to the other side of the Lesotho border.
He said that they then reported the matter to the police, but the police could not do anything until they received permission from Interpol in Pretoria.
"So began the long wait and fight."
After several calls to Interpol, permission is finally granted to the police on Monday.
"The chances that our animals will be recovered, are now very slim."
He appealed to Interpol to act faster in others and similar cases, but it seems to be all for nothing.
Capt. Phumelelo Dhlamini, of police said there are certain steps that must be followed.
"We can not cross without the permission of Interpol the border."
He also queries related to Interpol.

Bloemfontein. – “Dit is onaanvaarbaar dat Interpol twee weke neem om aan die polisie se veediefstaleenheid toestemming te gee om na gesteelde beeste anderkant die Lesotho-grens te gaan soek.”
Só sê Danie Joubert van die plaas Dashoek in die distrik Clocolan nadat Interpol eers Maandag ná twee weke en verskeie oproepe later toestemming aan die veediefstaleenheid op Ladybrand gegee het om 20 gesteelde beeste in Lesotho te gaan soek.
“Dít is heeltemal onaanvaarbaar. Indien hy betyds toestemming gegee het, sou die beeste gevind gewees het, maar nou is R250 000 se beeste gesteel en dit sal heel waarskynlik nooit gevind word nie.”
Joubert en sy buurman, Wessel Wessels van die plaas Welgelegen, het onderskeidelik op 19 en 20 Junie vanjaar nege en 11 beeste weens diefstal verloor.
Nadat hulle die spore gevolg het, het dit hulle tot anderkant die Lesotho-grens gelei.
Hy sê hulle het toe die saak by die polisie aangemeld, maar die polisie kon niks doen nie voordat hulle toestemming van Interpol in Pretoria ontvang het.
“Só het die lang gewag en bakleiery begin.”
Ná verskeie oproepe om vuur onder Interpol te maak, is daar eindelik Maandag toestemming aan die polisie verleen.
Maar Joubert sê dit is nou ’n bietjie te laat.
“Die kanse dat ons beeste teruggevind gaan word, is nou baie skraal.”
Hy doen ’n beroep op Interpol om in ander en soortgelyke gevalle vinniger op te tree.
Kapt. Phumelelo Dhlamini, polisiewoordvoerder, sê daar is sekere stappe wat gevolg moet word.
“Ons kan nie sonder die toestemming van Interpol die grens oorsteek nie.”
Hy het ook verdere navrae na Interpol verwys.
Oproepe van Volksblad na Interpol vir navrae het onbeantwoord gebly.
